Words Into Wool.
The Words into Wool Project kicked off during Sara’s Winter 2020 Artist Residency @ the Center for Maine Craft. It was an installation project that embodied the ancient practices of storytelling, felting, and shamanism. A way of honoring story, human origins, and how we become who we are.
Over the course of two months in 2020, Sara interviewed eleven women, learning about their personal stories and visiting their spaces. She then took the essence of their words, experiences, and any objects they contributed and created an art piece to honor them.
For Fall 2025…
Sara is bringing Words into Wool to her own space at Markings Gallery for Maine Craft Weekend!
Saturday, October 4th from 12 - 5pm
Marking Gallery @ 50 Front Street in Bath, Maine
Join her for a unique creative experience: a live, interactive session where your words are woven into wool and transformed into a custom 2x2 Mini Mystic or 5x5 Gentle Companion fiber wall hanging that honors the ancient art of felting.
Bring a story, a word, or simply your favorite colors and textures. Sara will listen, gather, and create — shaping your inspiration into felted fiber art, small or large, to carry home with you.
Feel free to bring an object you’d like to incorporate into your custom piece.
Whether you're commemorating a memory or celebrating a threshold moment, Sara invites you to sit, share, and watch as your story is honored through the tactile poetry of fiber.
